Dax: Margé's bulls return to Toros y salsa with "incredible pressure"

A year after having thrilled the public at the Dax arenas, the cattle of this Fleury-d'Aude breeder are making their return for the 5:30 p.m. bullfight this Saturday, September 13, against Esau Fernandez, Juan de Castilla and Molina.
The darlings of the Dax public since the last vintage of Toros y salsa, the bulls raised by Robert Margé are expected for the bullfight given in the Dax arenas this Saturday, September 13, 2025.
"Because of the impact that last year's bullfight had on our family, we're under incredible pressure," admits the ganadero from Fleury-d'Aude. Arriving in the sub-prefecture town of Landes on Thursday, Robert Margé knows that this rehearsal is one of the major events in the Dax program .
"People hope to see at least as good. I hope they are satisfied with what the bulls from Margé will show, remembering that bullfights with six bulls moving and fighting from start to finish are not something you see every day."
Prudent, Robert Margé can nevertheless rely on more than three decades of work, working on the bull he wanted to present in the arenas. "I started with cattle from Cebada Gago, because it is a bull that is brave, that has presence, by its physique and its behavior, and that allows a bullfighter capable of cutting its ears and performing great faenas."
The three pass?Although he enriched his herd with contributions from Nuñez del Cuvillo and Santiago Domecq at the beginning of the century, the Monteilles ganadero never compromised with caste: "A bull is not a carreton (a bull on wheels, editor's note). The bull must seduce the public as soon as it enters the ring, with its horns and its size, then move them with its temperament."
"The hardest part is being consistent and maintaining your level for many seasons," emphasizes Robert Margé. He acknowledges his ambition to make it three in Dax in 2026, and says he aims to return to Spain.
Aware of the stakes, he has already said no to Madrid, where his bulls shone in 2023. "The veedores of the Seville bullring have asked to come and see twelve bulls in the fall. Having your cattle fight in the Maestranza is the absolute dream." The culmination of a permanent quest, the shared work of an entire family: "The greatest recognition, for all of us, is to hear people say 'a bullfight by Margé' rather than a bullfight with this or that bullfighter."
